"When a parent dies,
a planet disappears, and the night sky
will never look the same again. It doesn't matter
how grown up we are when we lose one.
It's as though we are permanently without a
kind of roof, an invisible shield.
The first line of defense between
ourselves and mortality is gone .... "

My children's father passed away on March 22nd.
Although I've not been married to him for several years, and although they are all grown up now, there's a certain amount of emotional support that they need from their mom right now. The last couple of weeks have been really tough for all of us.

I'm VERY PROUD of the way my children handled this milestone in their lives. I'm proud of the talk Joshua gave and the closing prayer that Jacob offered. And, also the awesome job my five boys and two of my grandson's (along with their step-brother) did as Pall Bearers.
It's never easy to say "goodbye" but, you all handled it with grace & dignity.

Although we've not been together since 1990,
I still have memories of the early days, especially when we first met in High School and then through a year of College which is what brought us to St. George (where I've lived for the past 43 years!) and beginning our lives together and having a family together.
