About Me

My photo
St. George, Utah, United States
I'm just a woman with a camera, having an outrageous time! I carry my camera like most women carry a hand-bag. I especially like (and see) beauty in forgotten things. I love OLD buildings, rusty vehicles, fences and posts and details. When I’m photographing people, I love: natural expressions. relationships. simplicity. smiles. emotion. sweetness. laughter. shyness. grumpy frowns. silly giggles. stubborness. bare feet and a neat personality that just shines.

COWS, DOGS, DANDELIONS and WINE!

Janel and Bob

One of my good friends and I had a blast playing around amongst the cows and the dandelions in a pecan orchard. (we had to get special permission to even be there ... she lives close by and knows the owners.  LUCKY ME!!!)
The cows had fun playing with Janel's dog, BOB and were very curious ... they even wanted my wine!
THANKS Janel!!  Let's do it again!!

the cows wanted wine too!

NO TRESPASSING

.when a sign say's "NO TRESPASSING", it MEANS "no trespassing"!!!!

THIS is my story and I'm stickin' to it:

The first time I got yelled at for trespassing, I HONESTLY didn't see the sign ... i really didn't!!
Since then ... well, that's an entirely different story.
I'd already been to the location in question a couple of times before; I'd returned to photograph some new things I hadn't gotten on the trips before. Suddenly, out of nowhere,  this mangy-looking old farmer screeched up in his deliapidated old pickup and started screaming at me!!  He scared the bajeezers out of me at first and as I turned, all I could see was this old guy, half hanging out of his pickup, yelling and pointing his long boney finger at me!  Immediately I grabbed a hold of my trusty mace  (that I always have hanging around my neck when i'm on a photographic field trip by myself) and I headed towards him.  As I got closer to him I took a very firm hold of my camera too (which was also hanging around my neck), for fear he'd grab it from me!! I apologized to him but, he didn't wanna hear a word I had to say. He screamed a few obsenities about my trespassing and then yelled (spit flying!) that:  "YOU PEOPLE!  ...  It's YOU PEOPLE who get the thieves over here on my property!!  You put pictures of MY things on the blankety-blank internet and then they come and steal from me!"  When I could get a word in edge-wise, I apologized again and told him that I hadn't SEEN his "no trespassing" sign. *I honestly hadn't*  He just glared at me and started yelling some more!!  "When a sign says NO TRESPASSING ... it means: 'NO TRESPASSING'" he declared. At that point, he screeched away, leaving gravel and dirt flying in my face.  Six feet away from me, he threw the old beater in reverse and screeched back towards me.  He just sat there, glaring at me ... his chest heaving with his upset.  He clunked the stick shift into gear ... looked at me and, in an almost SOFT voice, he said, "I'm really sorry ... i think you're probably a nice girl."

I stood there -- amazed and even confused -- and watched him speed away.
A thick cloud of dirt and gravel settled around me.  After it cleared, I took a deep breath, looked over at the tractor I'd been photographing and decided that, I guess I was DONE here for the day. Sadly, I didn't even get to photograph the old rusty trucks and cars on the back lot that I'd actually come here to do in the first place. And to be truthful ... even though I still WANT to ... maybe I never will.  I'll just have to see ...

BABY BUMP

There's nothing sweeter than a new baby.
A baby BUMP is sweet and cute and exciting and ...  it's almost next to impossible to be able to stand the anticipation!
Everyone tries to guess what the sex of the baby is and what he or she is going to look like and what the name will be ... it's just never-ending.
This is EXACTLY the case in my son Josh and wife, Kathryn's case.  They chose NOT to know
the sex of the baby so we are all on pins and needles to know who this little person IS.
I can hardly wait to get my FOURTH grand baby and I know mom and dad and big brother Jevin are too excited for words!

AMERICAN MADE

If you know me you know that I LOVE to dance!! Country dancing that is .... none of this line dancing either ... just good old country two-stepping, the waltz, the shuffle and even the cowboy cha-cha. We go dancing most weekends (when we're in town) and no one has more fun than I do!!  Give me a great country western dance band, a glass or two of wine and a great dance partner and I'm in HEAVEN!!
I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot of my very favorite country band this week and it was a blast!
They're called AMERICAN MADE.  Sharon and Nat Winer have been doing this for over 25 years now and it's obvious that they LOVE what they do!!  They're easy to dance to and, talk about FUN!!
Sharon wanted some photo's done to use for their website AND a new CD they'll be putting out before long.
It was really fun to get to know the other guys a little better and to spend time with some really good people.
Oh, by the way ... Sharon sings like a bird and plays the piano so beautifully it just melts your heart! Nat plays a killer fiddle and the other guys just ROCK!!
If you ever have the chance to see them when they're in Mesquite (Nevada) ... DO IT ... i promise, you won't be disappointed!! (they're from California and come here about every three months.)

AMERICAN MADE:  Ed, drums - Nat, fiddle - Sharon, keyboard - John, bass guitar

THANKS for the fun guys ... you make this country girl *HAPPY*!!!!
